SychoSide—often simply called Shawn—is a streamer, content creator, musician, and author from the small Canadian province of Prince Edward Island.
The name SychoSide was born in the early 2000s, first appearing in WWF/WWE video games when Shawn merged the words psychopath and suicide to create a character with a split personality—unpredictable, chaotic, and unforgettable. From there, the name lived on in online wrestling communities known as eFeds between 2005 and 2010, before carrying over into forums, gaming spaces, and creative projects across the internet.
A lifelong gamer, Shawn grew up playing everything from Atari and Sega to Nintendo, PlayStation, and eventually Xbox, which became his platform of choice. In 2016, he founded The 8th Eye, a GTA Online crew that quickly expanded into a larger gaming community. Today, that group plays across titles like Red Dead Online, Call of Duty, Halo, Splitgate, Forza, and more—anywhere teamwork and chaos collide.
Shawn’s journey into streaming began on Xbox’s built-in Mixer integration around 2017, but it was 2019 when he really found his stride. Using Lightstream overlays and limited equipment, he steadily built connections within the Mixer community—including friends who achieved Partner status. When Mixer shut down in July 2020, Shawn and his circle transitioned to Twitch, where he quickly earned Affiliate status within his first month. Twitch has since become his streaming home, where he continues to grow his audience and share his brand of unfiltered energy.
Not limited to gaming, Shawn branched into music in 2023 with his debut instrumental album Not What You Expected. That same year, he honored a close friend with Myranda’s Song, his first track featuring a hired vocalist. Since then, he has released multiple projects, including Demons Within (2024), Choking on Salvation (January 2025), which featured vocals created with the help of artificial intelligence, and the emotionally charged Litany for the Lost (July 2025). Each album explores new creative ground while staying rooted in raw honesty.
In September 2025, on the two-year anniversary of his friend’s passing, Shawn expanded further into storytelling with the release of his debut psychological horror novel, Patient Zero, written under the name of Shawn SychoSide, through Copper Vein Press. The novel had been in the works in one form or another for several years, drawing heavily on the worlds and branding Shawn has built over time. Elements such as the Sanitarium and the town of Sanitaria (also the name of his Minecraft realm, Lego Fortnite world, and a Discord server he runs) show how his creative universe overlaps. Even the Sychophants—a play on “sycophants,” and the name he gives to trusted community members and moderators—appear in the book’s twisted lore. Patient Zero ties together years of imagination, gaming culture, and Shawn’s own identity as SychoSide, making it not just a novel but the culmination of a personal mythos.
